This workshop explored:
- What chronic disease burnout is and how counselling can help
- Common signs and themes, such as depression, anxiety, stress, anger, hopelessness, fatigue, strained relationships
- How to tune up self-care when in burnout – permission to grieve losses, activities of pleasure, medical support, family involvement (if possible), mindfulness
- Ways to prevent future occurrences – balance living and managing disease (unique to each of us), fostering hope, connecting with other people, recognizing sources of motivation/depletion.
