Living with a health condition can challenge our concept of ourselves and our place in the world.  It can be extremely difficult to embrace the journey.  I am privileged to once again present the content of Dr. Brené Brown this spring.  Dr. Brown’s research explores how we can live with courage, compassion and connection through practices that allow vulnerability and resilience.  My co-faccilitator, Karen Gilbert, and I will be tailoring the curriculum to address issues that are particularly relevant to those living with a health condition.

From Karen’s page:

Through education (including videos from Brené), discussion, creative and contemplative exercises, and connecting with others who understand the experience of living with an ongoing health condition, we will explore how to:

  • Be more compassionate with yourself
  • Apply day to day practices that will help you to cultivate more calm, authenticity, joy and meaning
  • Create a realistic action plan to meet your goals (and recognize what gets in the way)
  • Step away from the isolation of shame and fear and build resilience
  • Live more wholeheartedly by embracing your story and loving yourself throughout the process
